The 10th Spanish Symposium on Geotechnical Engineering and the 5th Portuguese-Spanish Conferences on Geotechnics took place at La Coruña, between october 19th and 21st.
This encounter reunited over 200 participants, from Spain and Portugal, aiming to discuss the tendencies and the best-practices for ground survey, treatment and improvement, as well as to discuss the current challenges of geotechnics in these two countries.
Concerning the the ground survey techniques and the treatment solutions for the ground improvement and reinforcement, Geotechnics is a living discipline, with a continuous evolution. The inovations on the constructive techniques have been constant, and it is undeniable the enormous experience that the Portuguese Geotechnics achieved with the application of these activities, during the the last decades, by experts and companies in Portugal and abroad,.
Mr. José Mateus de Brito, represented CENOR in this event, and, accepting the invitation made by SPG (Geotechnics’ Portuguese Society), was also responsible for introducing one of the invited speakers, Mr. António Roque, a Civil Engineer from LNEC (Portuguese Laboratory of Civil Engineering).
