Marrakesh, Agadir, Morocco
The Tunnel Zaouiat Ait Mellal is part of the Imintanout-Argana section that links Marrakesh to Agadir, in Morocco. It is a tunnel in double gallery, with a distance between axes of 26m and a useful section of 64m2 for each gallery, which were executed by NATM method. Each gallery has a total length of about 550m and the excavations for the insertion of the portal created slopes with heights of around 20m. As security features, in addition to fire fighting systems and smoke control, the tunnel has two linking pedestrian galleries between road galleries and safety niches next to each linking gallery. The ground is composed by sedimentary rocks which are predominantly composed by limestones and calcareous marls.
