The Tunnel of Trofa is part of the Minho railway line, it has 1.405m long, of which 1.090m are built in underground excavation and the remaining part in cut and cover excavation. The tunnel consists of a single gallery ,width between side walls of 10,8m and a maximum height of 7m, allowing two railways. The tunnel crosses a schist mass characterized by presenting different states of weathering and degree of fracturation. The ground cover of the tunnel varies between 4 and 62m. As elements of security beyond the network of fire, electricity, telecommunications, cable track, traction current return, and land protection and AVAC, the tunnel has a CCTV system, management system and 55 safety niches.
