DESCRIPTION

This bridge is part of an assessment aiming the construction of a fast track in the Comoro area in Díli, Eat Timor. This road was studied in order to provide a new connection between the airport and the city centre.
This new fast track would comprehend a set of roads with approximately 2,5km. In general, these roads would replace existing road axis and connections to the current road network would be provided by roundabouts. In order to cross the Comoro River, this project included the construction of a new bridge, with a total length of 300m, consisting of a continuous deck with 2 side spans of 35m and 5 middle spans of 46m. Given the construction methods and the structural restrictions, a solution comprising two separated decks of 10,5m was defined for this bridge. The cross-section would then comprise a total width of 21m.
The defined structural solution for each deck consisted of a T beam, with a composite steel and concrete cross-section. The reinforced concrete piers are approximately rectangular shafts. Stub abutments would be used, which, together with the piers, would be supported by deep foundations.foundations are on footings in all the supports.
