DESCRIPTION

The Bridge over the Tâmega River is part of the CM1193 relocation, regarded as one of the necessary relocations to ensure the traffic on the existing roads affected by the reservoir of the Fridão Dam. The new bridge will consist of a continuous deck with a main span of 80m and side spans of 50m, which will lead to a total of 3 spans of 180m length. The deck, built by the cantilever method, will be a continuous reinforced prestressed concrete single-cell box-girder of variable height. Each support alignment includes one single reinforced concrete pier, whose shafts are 3,4mx4,6m hollow cross-sections comprising webs 0,45m thick. Cantilever abutments were defined as retaining structures. Shallow foundations on footings were designed for all supports according to the results of the geologic assessment. One shall also emphasise that this contract includes a pedestrian bridge, 130m long, and 6 other viaducts with a total extension of 900m and whose design projects are currently in development.
