Arruda dos Vinhos, Portugal
The Antas and S. Lourenço viaducts are located in the Arruda dos Vinhos – Carregado (A1) stretch of the A10 Highway – Bucelas / Carregado / A13. Both viaducts have two separate decks of reinforced and pretensioned concrete with “TT” section, 0,2m apart from each other.
The beginning of one deck of the Antas viaduct was set 36m from the other, in the longitudinal direction, due to topographic restrictions. The north and south decks are composed by six and seven spans, respectively. The implantation led to side spans of 28m, middle spans of 36m and a central span of 45m, making an overall length, between abutments, of 209m for the north deck and 245m for the south one.
The S. Lourenço viaduct has side spans of 22m and centre spans of 36m, 8 in total, making an overall length of 260m between abutments. The piers, with heights between 5 and 20m above the ground, have a variable cross section and the abutments are closed. According to the results of the geologic assessment the foundations are on footings in all the supports.
